INDIGENOUS VOICES ~
VISIONING BEAR
CIRCLE The
Visioning Bear Circle is a safe place to tell your story and follow
native traditions that lead to healthy lives and a healthy community.
Be part of a vibrant community of indigenous men, women, and young
people working, drumming, and dreaming a safe environment to pass on our
culture, wisdom, and traditions.
We meet the second and last Saturdays of
each month from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Drumming, crafting, pot luck feast,
and community education.
OUR GOALS:
- To establish a highly visible and
viable approach to sexual violence prevention throughout the social
fabric of our intertribal community of Franklin County and the North
Quabbin.
- To promote open conversations about
gender-based violence that examine the role of tradition and the
role of internalized oppression in the indigenous community.
- Elders mentor young people about
living in harmony with all our relations.
- Establish a restorative justice
approach that ensures accountability for behavior by intertribal
members.
What can we do to promote these goals
in our lives, families, and community?
- Talk with children in our lives
about what healthy relationships are.
- Be critical of negative media
images.
- Challenge language that
degrades.
- Let us know your ideas!
