Domestic Violence Intervention Project Relief

 Relief staff as needed to fill in for staff vacations, illness, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·    Carry a beeper and cell phone and respond to calls from participating DVIP police departments.

·    Provide support, safety planning, referrals and follow-up assistance for victims of domestic violence in accordance with safety procedures outlined in the DVIP Police/Advocate Protocol.

·    Assist women in obtaining emergency restraining orders in collaboration with police.

·    Work cooperatively with police in providing assistance to victims of abuse.

·    Provide follow-up with courts and police as needed

·    Attend quarterly partnership meetings with police and quarterly group supervision meetings.

·    Complete an Information Sheet for each call and any other necessary paper work.

Shifts include:

Weekday overnights, Monday through Friday, 8 p.m. – 7 a.m.

24 hour coverage on weekends and Monday holidays.

Rate of pay:

Friday overnight, Saturday, and Sunday shifts,  8 p.m.-7 a.m. and 7 a.m.-8 p.m.:  $24.38 per shift

Weekday overnights, 8 p.m.-7 a.m.:   $19.48 per shift

Hourly rate for emergency calls:   $14.75 per hour

Qualifications:

MA State Drivers License.

Reliable vehicle to respond to emergency calls.

Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of domestic violence.

Direct service experience.

Must be within approximately 30 minute drive to all points in Franklin County and Athol.

Commitment to ending violence against women and children. 

Ability to model and uphold appropriate boundaries in work with clients, co-workers, supervisor, and community.

A commitment to social change through active participation in working towards ending racism, classism, sexism, ageism, homophobia, ableism, and all oppressions.

Willingness to learn about and actively use multi-cultural awareness and understanding in daily work.

Willingness to gain understanding of issues of oppression, battering, and sexual assault.
